If you keep at least a half-tank of gas in your car at all times, you'll be better prepared to evacuate in the event of a wildfire or tsunami – not to mention a brain-chewing zombie infestation.

That's just one of the messages the B.C. government is sending out for Zombie Preparedness Week, a campaign piggybacking on the fictional monsters' popularity to raise awareness about real-life emergency procedures.

"While the chance of zombie a-knockin' on your door is pretty slim, we do believe that if you're ready for zombies, you're ready for any disaster," a message on the Emergency Info BC website reads.

The Ministry of Justice has launched a series of Tweets, YouTube videos and even a daily blog detailing the survival strategies of one regular citizen caught in a terrifying zombie apocalypse.
