Flooding prompts evacuations on Vancouver Island

A state of emergency has been declared in two towns on Vancouver Island. The District of North Cowichan and the City of Duncan both issued alerts Friday morning in response to flooding in the Cowichan and Koksilah Rivers.   comments(3)

The death of a popular artist and performer on Hornby Island is being investigated as a homicide, Comox Valley RCMP officials announced Friday.
Roxanne Charlie, 26, was shot to death at a Surrey, B.C., house party on Oct. 31, 2009. She leaves behind two young children.
