Before commencing in physical activity there are physical prerequisites that should be met prior to increasing activity levels and stressing the body.  Establishing a movement profile by a qualified professional can identify weak links in the body that can be addressed in order to reduce and prevent injuries.  A warm up and cool down should be individualized.  This will help improve imbalances and identified weak links so that the body can move well and move often.

If any injury does occur, seek professional advice at the onset in order to optimize recovery and avoid future recurrence.  A clinician can not only diagnose and treat the presenting complaint, but he or she can look a step further and find potential causes that may lead to subsequent injury.  In any treatment or training situation, clients must understand that they are engaged in collaboration, and without their active participation the results are temporary and short lived.
