Four workmates at a B.C. golf store plan to spend a lot more time teeing off after collecting a $30 million Lotto Max cheque.

Ian McMurtrie, Wayne Miller, Tom Moryson and Joe Scully say they plan to put part of Friday's jackpot towards a trip to some of the world's most renowned golf courses.

The self-proclaimed golf fanatics, who work together in Langley, are planning to visit the links in Pebble Beach, Calif. and the fabled St. Andrews course in Scotland.

Though they've missed this year's tournament, the group also hopes to plan a trip to Georgia for next year's Masters competition.

The four co-workers say they've been buying Lotto Max tickets together for a couple of years now. The lucky Quick Pick ticket was purchased in Abbotsford, B.C.

It was McMurtrie who spotted the winning numbers on a Saturday morning newscast while eating breakfast with his wife. They checked the numbers and erupted into a screaming fit before calling their friends with the news.

Scully said he thought the call was a joke at first and hung up the phone. It took an emailed copy of the winning ticket to convince him that they had won the jackpot.

"I always had this conviction that I was never going to win on my own, but I had a feeling I would win with these guys," Scully said in a news release.

When asked to describe his plans for the future, McMurtrie is reminded of a British Columbia Lottery Corporation ad that depicts four friends fly fishing.

"I just saw that commercial again this morning and thought 'that's just like us' -- only we'll be golfing," he said in a release.

The Friday Lotto Max draw also saw winning tickets for $141,026 sold in Vernon and in Comox.
