Police have identified the victim in a fatal shooting at a house party in Surrey this weekend as 28-year-old Bradley McPherson.

McPherson was killed early Saturday morning at the gathering in a home near the intersection of 132nd Street and 67A Avenue.

His mother Susan issued a statement through police on Monday, asking for anyone with information about the slaying to come forward.

"Bradley was a fun-loving man who loved his family and he was in no way involved in illegal activity. This was a senseless act which has taken a son away from his mother forever," she said.

Police say that McPherson did not have a criminal record.

There have been no arrests in the murder, and anyone with information is asked to call the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team at 1-877-551-IHIT or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

McPherson's murder set off a weekend of shootings in the Vancouver suburb. A woman was taken to hospital early Christmas morning after she was shot in an apartment building parking lot near the intersection of King George Boulevard and University Drive, and 27-year-old Alok Gupta was killed while he worked the holiday shift at Ken's Grocery on 96 Avenue.
