The only thing Christina Rodriguez wants for Christmas is to visit her grandpa in Edmonton after he was diagnosed with advanced stomach cancer two months ago.

That's what she filled out on her Christmas wish form at Coquitlam's Alderson Elementary School. She hasn't seen him in a long time and wants to cheer him up to help him forget his illness.

"Since she found out about grandpa that's all she talks about every night," said her mother Monica.

Through CTV's 5 Days of Christmas, Flight Centre helped Christina's caring wish take flight providing three West Jet tickets bound for Edmonton for her and her family.

"Wow it's so big," exclaimed Christina upon seeing the plane on the tarmac.

It was Christina's first time flying and although she was tentative at first, she loved being up in the air.

The Rodriguez family met at the airport with jubilant hugs and kisses but with only three days to squeeze in such a reunion, they headed back to grandpa's to visit.

The family celebrated in the traditional festive way, decorating a Christmas tree and passing around presents.

Grandpa Ricardo does not speak much English but his happiness was clear.

"It's a especial moment to me," he said.

The Rodriguez family headed back to Vancouver bringing home smiles and a large dose of Christmas cheer.
