Saanich police are investigating after a young woman was sexually assaulted multiple times Friday night.

Investigators say the victim, a 20-year-old Victoria resident, had left a party with friends but got separated in the area of Cedar Hill Cross Road and Cedar Hill Road.

Shortly before 10:30 p.m., she was approached by a man who forced her into the rear of a four-door car with up to three other men inside. She was driven around for an extended period of time before being dropped off in front of a Victoria grocery store.

Sgt. Dean Jantzen said police are not disclosing the details of the assault, but said it was "a disturbing assault, and there was a sexual nature to that assault."

The woman received minor injuries, and is deeply traumatized by the incident. She is receiving support at the Victoria Women's Sexual Assault Centre.

Jantzen said investigators have exhausted all available leads, and made a public plea for information.

"We have no information about the suspects, nor does the victim appear to know who the suspects are," he said.

"If there are people out in our community who are talking about this, bragging about it, Facebooking or Tweeting or chatting about it online … we need to know that."

Anyone with information on the assault is asked to call the Saanich Police Department at 250-475-4321 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
