Mounties in Richmond, B.C are warning the public to be vigilant after a series of recent armed carjackings in parking lots.

In each case, the male suspect approaches the vehicle with a weapon and demands the keys from the driver. All of the incidents have happened in public places and none of the victims were injured.

The three cases date back to Dec. 16. The most recent happened early Monday morning.

Const. Tammy-Lyn Walker said the thefts appear to be random.

Walker advises drivers to always park in well-lit areas and contact police if they believe they are being followed.
