Coffee Filter Wreath

You will need:

  • 2 packages of basket type filters (size small)
  • 1 -12" Styrofoam wreath with form
  • low heat glue gun and glue
  • sticks
  • food colouring
  • water

Directions:

  1. Mix 6 drops of food coloring with 1 cup water
  2. Grab 1 coffee filter by the middle and quickly dip the tips in the color
  3. Put aside to dry
  4. Place a dollop of hot glue on the wreath
  5. Grab the filter by the middle and push into the hot glue Repeat with more filters until you have covered the glue
  6. Repeat, moving in 'rows' across the inside, top and sides of the wreath
  7. Allow time to dry completely before hanging with a ribbon or by attaching some fishing line at the back with hot glue

Notes:

  • You may need to mix more 'dipping water' as you go, use as much as you need
  • Don't worry if the filters are stained unevenly -- that's part of the beauty
  • Use the glue gun carefully, you don't want to burn your fingers
  • The tighter you place the filters in 'rows', the more textured the wreath will appear
