B.C. Premier Gordon Campbell is shuffling his cabinet this morning, two days before he addresses the province in a televised address, and rumours are already flying about several high-profile positions.
CTV's Victoria bureau chief Jim Beatty says much of the speculation surrounds Environment Minister Barry Penner.
Rumours suggest Penner will be named B.C.'s next Solicitor General, taking some of the load off of Attorney General Mike de Jong who has been filling the post since Kash Heed stepped down in May.
There is also word that Margaret McDiarmid may lose her position as Education Minister. There are suggestions the government may create a bigger ministry that could include more early childhood development issues.
Ida Chong could be removed as Minister of Healthy Living and Sport as well. Sources say she is regarded as a weak and ineffective minister, and many of her policy issues have been taken over by Health Minister Kevin Falcon.
Word is she is likely to stay in cabinet but change portfolios.
There is not much talk about new faces in cabinet, aside from the possible appointment of Kamloops-North Thompson MLA Terry Lake to an unknown post. Both Lake and Chong have been named as potential targets in the Anti-HST movement's recall campaign.
The rumours swirling around the B.C.'s capital are unconfirmed and should be taken with a grain of salt.
Campbell will make the official announcement at 11 a.m. at the B.C. Legislature.
