RCMP in eastern B.C. are mulling an extended foot search along a 450 kilometre section of highway between Jasper, Alta., and Kamloops, B.C., as they look for any sign of an elderly Sunshine Coast woman.

May Millings was last seen Sept. 2 as she left Jasper, intending to meet friends in Kamloops that night.

The 81-year-old Gibsons, B.C., resident was reported missing the next day and Mounties in several eastern B.C. detachments have been scouring Highways 5 and 16 since then.

Cpl. Dan Moskaluk says a second aerial search of the routes was completed Tuesday but a thick canopy of trees obscures most of the roadside.

He says police are considering another foot search along parts of the highways but, in the meantime, commercial and private motorists on Highways 5 and 16 are asked to watch for any signs of a vehicle off the road.

Millings has made the same trip frequently and was driving a dark blue 2009 Buick Lucerne, four-door sedan, with B.C. licence plate 147 LHF.
