Police have confirmed the suspicious package found on the Queen of Oak Bay on Tuesday morning was just empty luggage.

BC Ferries staff called police after finding a suitcase in the ship's cafeteria while it was docked at Horseshoe Bay.

West Vancouver Police arrived, cleared the ship and secured the area until the RCMP Explosives Detonation Unit arrived to evaluate the threat.

"Nothing suspicious was located," Const. Jag Johal said.

Ferries spokeswoman Deborah Marshall said the Queen of Oak Bay's sold out 10:40 a.m. sailing to Departure Bay in Nanaimo was delayed too long and has been cancelled.

Sailings from Horseshoe Bay to Langdale and Snug Cover have not been affected.
