The B.C. father at the centre of this weekend's Amber Alert is facing charges in connection to the alleged parental abduction.

A province-wide bulletin was issued after Kenneth Daniel Morey's 12-year-old son was taken from his grandparent's Chilliwack home.

Investigators say the boy was at home about 12:45 p.m. Sunday when his father and two other men forcibly entered and took him, spurring an alert that lasted six hours.

Cpl. Lea-Anne Dunlop said the grandparents suffered minor injuries during the incident, but the youngster was not harmed.

Police later received a tip from the public that the boy and his father were in a taxi cab in Langley. Officers located the cab at a gas station at around 6:30 p.m. The boy was unharmed.

Morey, 34, has now been charged with three counts of assault and one count of forcible entry.

He has been released from custody on a promise to appear in court Oct. 12. Morey is not to have contact with his son except through legal counsel.
