Vancouver's Celebration of Light fireworks festival is in jeopardy once again due to lack of funding, according to a former organizer.

Raymond Greenwood, former president of the Vancouver Fireworks Society, said the event needs another $350,000 to transport the fireworks in from abroad.

"I know [the show's producers] are not having a very nice night sleeping these days," Greenwood said.

"They've had the countries lined up since six months ago but the problem is finding the funds to get all the fireworks here."

The festival had a similar problem last year when organizers announced there was a chance the fireworks wouldn't be taking to the sky due to the lack of sponsorship dollars.

The celebration's current organizer declined to comment on the situation.

Further details about this year's event are expected to come out next Wednesday.
