North Vancouver RCMP have confirmed that a body found Saturday evening on Grouse Mountain is that of a Japanese woman who went missing earlier this week.

Hiroko Kinugasa, 69, was last seen on the mountain at the Altitude Bistro Restaurant around 6:30 p.m Thursday evening.

Police say she had told witnesses she was going snowboarding, despite having a return flight to Japan scheduled that day.

Police say that they do not suspect foul play in Kinugasa's death. Although an autopsy has not been performed, a preliminary coroner's report suggests that she might have died from exposure.

According to an RCMP statement Kinugasa was not properly dressed for snowboarding, and the weather was stormy on the slopes.

Kinugasa arrived in Canada from Japan on April 4.
