More than US$101-million U.S. has been charged to international Visa cards in B.C. since the start of the 2010 Games, the company said Sunday.

Spending in the province between Feb. 12, the day of the Olympic Opening Ceremony, and Feb. 26 was up 93 per cent over the same period last year, according to a release from Visa Inc.

On Friday, total transactions charged to Visa credit and debit cards during the Games also surpassed the one million mark.

The top international spenders included the United States of America, China, the United Kingdom and Australia.

Fourteen countries spent more than US$1-million, and nine others spent more than $2-million, Visa said.
