Mother Nature has given a gift to B.C.'s ski buffs.

Prompted by an early heavy snowfall, Whistler Mountain will open 12 days ahead of schedule this Saturday.

Blackcomb will open on November 26.

Up to 100 centimetres of fresh powder has accumulated over the last week, and even more could be on the way.

A cold front pushing across the coastal region could bring another 65 centimetres by Saturday.

"We've got a lot of work to do between now and Saturday, but we're up for it, and stoked!" operations manager Doug MacFarlane said.

Snowmaking production machines are converting more than seven million gallons of water into snow per day.
