Authorities have determined through DNA testing that a right foot found recently on a beach in Richmond, B.C., belongs to a 25-year-old man who was reported missing in January 2008.

"Based on the investigation into the circumstances of his disappearance and personal history, investigators do not believe foul play was involved," the BC Coroners Service said in a press release.

Authorities did not release the man's identity at the request of the family. The rest of his remains have not been recovered.

The foot was found in a Nike shoe Oct. 27 at No. 6 Road and Triangle Road in Richmond, the seventh detached foot to wash up on B.C. shores in two years.

The cases have garnered worldwide attention.

One other foot was matched to a man who was depressed and likely took his own life.

In all cases, the remains appear to have naturally separated from the body - a process called disarticulation.
