A Richmond, B.C., man is facing 15 criminal charges after allegedly threatening a woman with a gun after she threw a potato chip at his truck.

Cst. Anne Longley of the Vancouver Police says the incident started around midnight Sunday when the man drove past a 36-year-old-man and 38-year-old woman walking in the 800-block of East Hastings St. in downtown Vancouver.

"They were walking in the south lane when the truck went speeding by," Longley said.

"The woman yelled at the driver of the truck just to slow down and she threw a potato chip in the direction of the truck. At this point the driver of the truck stopped his vehicle jumped out and threatened the woman."

Longley said that's when the man pointed a silver gun at the woman.

"The woman's companion then jumped in tried to wrestle away the gun from the man," she said.

After a brief fight, the driver jumped back into his truck and sped away.

A witness called 911 and police caught up with the man on nearby Cordova Street.

The 30-year-old was arrested without incident.

Police seized a loaded handgun, as well as brass knuckles and a gun holster, from the vehicle.
