While Vancouver has mushroomed and morphed over the past 125 years, one thing that has remained the same is Stanley Park.



The curtains at Hollywood Theatre on Vancouver’s West Broadway is finally drawn to the end.  Opened in 1935, the Farleigh family-owned and operated this theatre finally says goodbye after 75 years.

Major James Skitt Matthews was the first Vancouver’s City Archivist.  Matthews wrote a seven-volume history on Early Vancouver, between 1931 and 1956.  The popular resource documentary on Vancouver’s early history was available only in hard copy in the City of Vancouver Archives’ Reading Room.  Now it is available online, as a new fully searchable 2011 edition.
