Two more charges have been added to the case against the former top-ranked Mountie in Merritt, B.C., who is accused of stealing and then using cocaine from evidence lockers.

Staff Sgt. Stuart Seib was arrested in January and charged with one count of theft under $5,000 after he allegedly told a fellow officer about what he had done. He made his first appearance in provincial court Wednesday, when additional charges of theft and breach of trust by a public officer were read.

The charges date back to June 2010 and relate to offences allegedly committed in Merritt. Seib was transferred to the detachment in November 2011 after years in Clearwater.

An RCMP spokesman told ctvbc.ca that Seib has officially resigned from the force and therefore will face no internal discipline.
