One woman is dead and another was taken into custody after a body was found in a Surrey home Thursday night.

Police arrived in the 10600-block of 138 Street just before 5 p.m. after receiving a 911 call about a woman in medical distress, according to Sgt. Jennifer Pound of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team.

The woman, who appeared to be in her mid 20s, was found dead at the scene.

"It appeared that female sustained injuries that are consistent with foul play," Pound told CTV News.

Pound says a 23-year-old woman has been arrested and investigators are trying to determine a motive.

"We don't know what the relationship is. We do believe that they know each other," she added.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team, the Surrey RCMP and the Integrated Forensic Investigation Section are investigating the incident.
