The man accused of killing a Surrey couple in a 2008 hit-and-run crash has entered a surprise guilty plea.

Ravinder Singh Binning pleaded guilty Tuesday to two counts dangerous driving causing death and one count each of dangerous driving causing bodily harm and fleeing the scene of a crash.

Binning was charged after slamming his white Acura into the back of a BMW in 2008, killing two backseat passengers, 61-year-old Dilbag Badh and his 60-year-old wife Baskshish. They were on their way home from their daughter Varinder's engagement party at the time.

The daughter, who was also injured in the collision, was in Surrey provincial court to hear Binning's plea, and expressed her lingering anger towards the driver.

"Nothing is going to be enough, but some sentence in federal penitentiary will help us move on, because Ravinder Binning ... he's not even worth my time, he's not worth my breath. He's worth less than the scum off the sole of my foot," she told reporters outside the court.

Binning has a history of driving charges, including speeding, violating the conditions of his licence and failing to provide a breath sample. Late last year, he also pleaded guilty to impaired driving, failing to stop at the scene of a crash and obstructing a police officer in relation to a 2009 incident.

A sentencing hearing for Binning has been scheduled for March 13.
