A woman is recovering in hospital after being shot in a Surrey, B.C., parking lot early Christmas morning.

Police arrived at an apartment building located near the intersection of King George Boulevard and University Drive around 3 a.m. and discovered the victim suffering from a single gunshot wound.

"She was taken to the hospital, where I've been told she's in stable condition right now," RCMP Sgt. Alex Bodden told CTV News.

Bodden said two males who were likely involved in the shooting fled the scene quickly after the woman was hurt.

"It does not seem to be anything associated to gangs or anything of that nature," he added.

This is the second shooting in Surrey in less than 24 hours. A 28-year-old man was killed after being shot at a house party on Saturday morning.
