About 150 police raided five suspected methamphetamine labs in Metro Vancouver early Thursday morning that they believe were being run by B.C. biker gangs.
Vancouver police, Emergency Response Team members and officers from the RCMP's Clandestine Laboratories Unit executed a series of search warrants at private residences and businesses in Vancouver, Surrey and Port Moody beginning at 5 a.m.
RCMP Sgt. Bill Whalen of Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit said police found chemical drugs at four of the five locations, including Ultrascience Pharmaceutical Corp. in Vancouver.
"What we've located here is chemicals that are used in illegal chemical drugs whether that be methamphetamine, MDMA, ecstasy. It's early in the morning here and searches are not complete," Whalen said at the scene.
Whalen said two arrests had been made and that charges would be going through immediately.
Lead investigator Insp. Rob Johnston of the Outlaw Motorcycle Gang Enforcement Unit said police have probed several labs over the past year as part of an ongoing investigation into organized crime and drug production.
"We will continue to use every enforcement opportunity we can to pursue organized criminals who put the public in danger by the production of these drugs," Johnston said in a release.
Search warrants were executed at the following locations:
1. 2600-block Lillooet St., Vancouver
2. 1100-block Pacific St., Vancouver
3. 200-block Newport Dr., Port Moody
4. 400-block Capilano Rd., Port Moody
5. 9400-block 189 St., Surrey
