A group of dedicated coupon-clippers from Mission, B.C. is donating $6,000 worth of goods to needy families in their neighbourhood while spending next to nothing.

This Christmas season, Tammy Wall set out on a quest to help needy families at her son's school, and she and her friends have been triumphant.

"We, as a community of couponers, have been able to support 105 people for Christmas, absolutely free. Everything from turkeys to potatoes to Dove [soap] to you name it," she told CTV News.

At her side in the chase was a group of women she bonded with over their love of a good deal. Every month, they get together with dozens of other Fraser Valley couponers to swap for what they need to stretch tight family budgets.

"I've made some awesome couponer friends," said Wall, a single mother.

"I've been couponing since I was 15, but extreme couponing for the past nine years now."

Her friend Courtenay Rimaldi says she even has a dedicated chair where she sits while clipping coupons.

This weekend, just a few days before the coupon-clippers plan to give out baskets of goodies to unsuspecting families, they headed out on a last-minute shopping trip to London Drugs in Abbotsford.

Wall scored $340 worth of stuff for just $58 in tax and out-of-pocket expenses. The secret to her success is something called "stacking": using several coupons for the same item, but with different UPC codes so they can be used at the same time.

That haul of free goods could make a big difference for people struggling to make ends meet during the holidays.

"The basic necessities of life -- if we can give that to them, we've done our job," couponer Aileen Ablog said.
