RCMP officers are trying to locate an 81-year-old man from Port Hardy, B.C., who was reported missing on Friday evening.

William Fisher Sr. was last spotted on the morning of Dec. 1 leaving the Campbell River Hospital after receiving treatment for a medical condition. It's believed he began the three-hour drive back to Port Hardy in his 1995 white-coloured Chrysler 4-door sedan with the B.C. licence plate 161 MCK. Fisher's family informed police he was missing the next day.

His son, William Fisher, told CTV News his father doesn't have memory issues, but the treatment he receives can be physically draining.

"He hasn't shown problems with Alzheimer's or anything like that," he said. "What I do know is after this visit to the hospital he's dog-tired and he can't wait to get home."

Investigators say the elderly Fisher bought gas with his debit card in Sayward, B.C., about an hour north of Campbell River on Highway 19, at 4:20 p.m. on Dec. 1. This is the last information they have regarding his whereabouts.

With the help of an RCMP helicopter, police searched the road between Port Hardy and Sayward and checked motels and businesses in the area on Saturday. They did not find the elderly man and continued looking for him on Sunday.

Police do not believe foul play was involved in the man's disappearance and wonder if he may have driven off the road.

Fisher Sr. was last seen wearing grey pants and a grey zip-up jacket.
