A repeat sex offender has been charged in the abduction of a 39-year-old woman from an adult boutique in Kamloops, B.C. this week.

Mounties confirmed Friday that Jack Samuel Froese has been charged with six counts, including uttering threats, aggravated assault with a weapon, sexual assault and kidnapping.

The victim, a co-owner of the Crystal Blush boutique, disappeared at around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday and turned up six hours later at the doorstep of a home in the Westmount area suffering undisclosed injuries.

The home's residents called 911 and she was taken to hospital for treatment. Few details of her condition have been confirmed, but Const. Bernie Ward said her wounds were not life-threatening.

Police believe the abductor entered the victim's workplace, kidnapped her and used her pickup truck to get away. The white 2004 GMC Sierra extra-cab pickup was found abandoned that night.

Froese moved to Kamloops after being released from federal prison in May 2011, spurring a lengthy public alert from the RCMP detailing the convict's criminal history.

According to the alert, Froese has been known to befriend his victims prior to assaulting them, but has also randomly assaulted a woman at knifepoint.

He was released under a long list of conditions that barred him from drinking, doing drugs or possessing weapons. Froese was also given a strict curfew and prohibited from having a relationship with a woman without alerting his probation officer first.

After announcing his latest arrest, Supt. Yves Lacasse asserted that the RCMP had done everything they could to keep an eye on Froese – making contact with the convict 146 times in the 147 days he lived in the community.

They also conducted covert surveillance on Froese four times, and charged him twice for breach of probation. He subsequently served 45 days in the Kamloops Regional Correctional Centre.
