After more than three days of deliberations, a Kelowna jury has found Neil Snelson guilty of manslaughter in the cold case slaying of Jennifer Cusworth.

The father-of-four, 44, was accused of dumping the body of the 19-year-old student in a ditch following a house party in the B.C. Okanagan in 1993.

The Crown alleged that Snelson sexually assaulted and then choked the teen to death. But the defense says the accused admitted to having sex with the deceased after the party, but that someone else killed her.

Snelson wasn't charged with the murder until 2009, after the DNA evidence emerged. He has no previous criminal record.

A sentencing date has not been set.
