Gurjinder "Gary" Dhaliwal, the 19-year-old former boyfriend of murder victim Maple Batalia, has been arrested and is being questioned by police in Surrey, sources tell CTV News.

Two vehicles believed to be related to the Dhaliwal family were towed from the area where the arrest took place Wednesday afternoon.

RCMP have not confirmed or denied that Dhaliwal was arrested.

The news comes just days after two assault charges were approved against Dhaliwal. Those charges stem from an incident on Sept. 24 against two teenagers, a man and woman, at a Tim Hortons donut shop.

The identities of the alleged victims are protected under a court publication ban.

Batalia, an aspiring actress and model, was shot to death in a parking lot outside of the Simon Fraser University campus on Sept. 28.

The teen had been studying with her friends at the library beforehand, according to her father.

No arrests have been made in her death, but the teen's family alleges she was having troubles with a former boyfriend.

As many as 50 investigators are assigned to the case.
