Mounties in B.C.'s north have arrested an alleged cocaine kingpin as part of a large drugs and weapons bust.

David George Massey, 43, was arrested at a strip mall in Quesnel on April 12, along with 36-year-old James Darren Peacock of Chilliwack and 34-year-old Kelly Edward Champagne of Abbotsford.

RCMP say the arrests will have a "significant impact" on illegal drug trade in the north.

During the arrest, police seized two kilograms of cocaine and a large sum of cash from two vehicles.

In connection with the arrests, drug enforcement officers raided a home and four Quesnel businesses, seizing several rifles, two handguns, two Tasers, ammunition, body armour and cash. Two of the seized rifles were stolen and one was loaded with banned ammunition.

Investigators also located stolen equipment including a one-ton flat-bed truck, an excavator and a tractor.

"This investigation is another graphic illustration that drugs, weapons and organized crime are not limited to our major city centres," RCMP Insp. Ray Fast said in a release.

Tonya Lynn Shepherd, Massey's 42-year-old common law wife, was arrested a day later after the raids outside a Quesnel business.

Massey faces 11 charges for drugs and weapons-related offences and possession of stolen property. Shepherd has been charged with possession of proceeds of crime and stolen property and several firearms offences.

Peacock and Champagne have both been charged with drug trafficking, possession of the proceeds of crime and breach of conditions.

All of the accused are scheduled to make their next court appearances on Tuesday. Police say further charges are possible.
