Homicide officers are investigating the death of a 17-year-old girl in the northwest B.C. town of Burns Lake.

RCMP say an autopsy has confirmed foul play in the death of Chassidy Charlie, whose body was found in a home last Wednesday.

Police have not released a cause of death.

The girl's mother, Geraldine Charlie, says that when she found the body in the kitchen of the home her daughter's face was burned and her cellphone was missing.

RCMP Sgt. Rob Vermeulen says it was not a random attack, but there's no word on any suspects.
