Longtime Vancouver sportscaster Paul Carson has died at the age of 60 after a battle with pancreatic cancer.

Carson served as host of the program Sports Page on Vancouver TV station CKVU, now known as City TV, before helping found the all-sports radio station Team 1040 in 2001.

He remained there until last fall when CHUM radio swung the axe and laid off 23 people at the Vancouver station.

Carson was just beginning a new job with a wine company when he was diagnosed with cancer in February and began treatment shortly after.

Greg Douglas, who worked with Carson at CKVU, says Carson lived life to the fullest, was a friend of pro sports teams and was well-liked by everyone.
