Operation Red Nose in Canada
Operation Red Nose is a free, volunteer-run designated driver service during the holidays that caters to motorists who do not feel fit to drive home. Volunteers provide patrons a safe ride home in their own vehicle. Donations are accepted and all proceeds go to support community and sports programs.
Operation Red Nose kicks off in late November and runs to the end of December. There are several ways to get involved – volunteer with your local ORN operation, give them a call after your holiday celebration, book ORN for a corporate party or as a provincial or local sponsor.
Operation Red Nose will be available in 109 communities and in eight Canadian provinces this year. Last year, more than 50,900 volunteers provided 73,193 rides throughout Canada. In its 15 years, the organization has provided more than 1,580,000 free rides!
Operation Red Nose in B.C.
For the 15th year in a row, dedicated volunteers will make their way to their local Operation Red Nose headquarters in towns and cities across the province with the goal of making roads and highways in their communities safer for everyone.
The Operation Red Nose mission: to make roads safer and to support local youth or amateur sports initiatives. Indeed, 100% of the client donations are given to local nonprofit youth or amateur sports organizations.
Operation Red Nose is strong in British Columbia. B.C. is the province with the highest number of rides, second to only Quebec declared Jean-Marie De Koninck, Founding President of Operation Red Nose. “It’s great to see that from one year to the next we continue to behave more responsibly with regards to impaired driving while enjoying the fun that comes with the holiday season,” he said.
