A search is underway for two hikers missing for almost a week near Pemberton, B.C.

Vancouver residents Rachael Bagnall, 25, and Jonathan Jette, 34, left for a hike in the area of Cirque Peak on Sept. 4. They were supposed to return home two days later.

Bagnall's sister reported the couple missing on Wednesday, and police located their vehicle early Thursday morning.

Five search and rescue crews are now combing the back-country for the pair, and have located a pair of sunglasses believed to belong to Bagnall.

Police say the couple was equipped with appropriate gear for the hike and enough food to last two or three days.

"They're not extremely experienced, but they do have some experience in back-country hiking," RCMP Staff Sgt. Steve LeClair said.

He added that police are asking for members of the public to keep an eye open for the missing couple.

"If you've seen them out in the back-country, call the police to let them know exactly when and where you saw them."
