Vancouver police have released the name of the man shot to death last Friday evening by RCMP in suburban Langley.

Twenty-two-year-old Jeffrey James Alvin Wright was killed Aug. 6 when Mounties arrived at a Langley apartment following a report of a domestic disturbance.

Vancouver Const. Jana McGuinness says Wright was shot by an unnamed veteran RCMP officer.

She says the incident occurred when officers were confronted by a man as they searched the apartment, but further details of the shooting have not been provided.

The Langley RCMP detachment asked the Vancouver force to take over the investigation after Wright died in hospital.

McGuinness says the investigation is ongoing but additional updates are not immediately expected.
