One person had to be evacuated by helicopter as a wildfire threatened a subdivision near Osoyoos, B.C., on Monday.

The 18-hectare fire was discovered on Monday about five kilometres north of the Interior town, and a crew of four helicopters, three air tankers and 40 firefighters were working to contain it. The cause is under investigation.

Police say that after the emergency afternoon evacuation, no other homes were threatened by the fire. RCMP are now manning a roadblock, and permitting only intermittent traffic to flow along Highway 3 near the scene of the fire.
