The children of a missing B.C. woman whose rental car was found abandoned last Wednesday are asking anyone who may have seen her to come forward.

Maple Ridge resident Linda Mitchell was last seen leaving a Hope-area hotel at around 3:40 p.m. Tuesday in a red Hyundai Accent.

The car turned up the next day in Chilliwack outside Friendly Mike's Pub.

"This is very uncharacteristic of her," Mitchell's son Chris Fedge told CTV News. "We're still trying to put together the pieces."

Fedge says he doesn't know where Mitchell was headed, but that she may have been going to visit her cousin in Osoyoos. How the car ended up at the pub is a mystery, however. Fedge says his mother is unfamiliar with the area.

Her purse was found in the vehicle, along with her credit cards, cash and cell phone.

Fedge is hoping someone can shed light on his mother's disappearance, and has organized a Facebook page to gather information.

"Everybody's just pitching in and trying to get her picture out there and start canvassing the area so we can find her," he said.

Mitchell is described as 5-3 tall, roughly 110 lbs, with brown eyes and blonde hair.

Anyone who may have seen her on or after July 26th is asked to contact the Chilliwack RCMP at 604-792-4611.
