Sebastian Albrecht has climbed his way into world record books for a second year in a row.

The B.C. realtor climbed North Vancouver's Grouse Grind trail 14 times Monday, breaking his previously held world record of 13 consecutive climbs in a single day.

The realtor completed the 853-metre hike 14 times from 6:30 a.m. to 11:12 p.m. It is the equivalent of reaching the summit of Mount Everest one and a half times in a day, or walking up Toronto's CN Tower 68 times.

Albrecht told ctvbc.ca after taking a brief break after the 12th climb he had little doubt he would break the record.

"I was feeling exhausted long before that but at that point I knew I was going to get through it. I just knew it," he said.

Vicki Mann, who last year matched Albrecht's old record of 13 climbs, climbed with him during the last two ascents to help motivate him.

"The whole point was being there to help me on the way up. It's really nice to have that support," he said.

The road to victory was a long one for Albrecht. After suffering almost crippling knee pain during last year's climbs, he added yoga and flexibility exercises to his training regiment.

"My knees are much better than they were last year. All that stretching and yoga really did pay off," he said, laughing.

Albrecht's goal is to raise $15,000 for the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation, a charity devoted to supporting shelters and ending violence against women and children.
