A 56-year-old Merritt man died after being stabbed on Friday night and police say his 39-year-old wife is a suspect.

Mounties were called to the couple's home at 10:23 p.m. and found the husband suffering from critical stab wounds.

He was rushed to the Nicola Valley Health Centre, where he was pronounced dead.

Police say the couple had been drinking at a local pub earlier in the day, got into an argument and took separate taxis home.

The wife was arrested and taken into custody. No charges have been laid.

The Kelowna RCMP Major Crimes Unit and the Merritt RCMP are continuing to investigate, and will be releasing more information as it becomes available.
