The union representing B.C.'s ambulance paramedics says the latest government "fix" to the ambulance service is anything but a repair.

CUPE local 873 says 14 ambulances and 36 full-time jobs will be cut on the Lower Mainland.

It says the proposed changes will put more pressure on an already overburdened system and it warns patients will pay the price.

The union says a study it conducted in 2008 called for more ambulances across B.C. to keep up with the volume of calls.
