The brother of a Kelowna woman involved in the drug trade says she was preparing to make big changes in her life – and 11 days after her disappearance, he hopes those changes didn't come too late.

Brittney Lee Irving, 24, was last seen by a family member on April 6 ago at a Days Inn motel in the 2600-block of Harvey Avenue. She left to meet someone in the Rutland area, and hasn't been seen since.

Her brother Joze MacCulloch says the last time he saw Irving she said she would be checking into rehab for an addiction to prescription drugs.

"Her husband was just ecstatic that she was even making the notion to want to clean up," he said.

But MacCulloch says when she was seen at the Days Inn, it was for at least one more drug deal.

"She thought she was going to make a little bit of money," he said, adding that she was "so excited about getting into rehab."

The only sign of Irving since her disappearance is her vehicle, a blue 2001 Ford Explorer. It was found off Philpott Road east of Kelowna the next day.

Just a few weeks ago, Irving was arrested when the RCMP raided a grow op at her home.

Mounties say they are looking into Irving's contacts in the drug world, but that there are other avenues to investigate.

"We haven't determined a definitive link between this drug-related information and her disappearance," Const. Steve Holmes said. "This is still in the province of speculation."

MacCulloch says his sister's story should be a warning to anyone with a friend or family member thinking of dabbling in the drug trade.

"Sit down and tell them," he said. "This is a 24-year-old girl that's missing – my sister."
