Police in Prince Rupert, B.C., are investigating the third reported case of an attempted child abduction in the last three weeks.

RCMP Const. Erin Stevenson says that in the latest incident, the driver of a truck got out of his vehicle and told the child to get inside.

She says the man then tried to grab the girl, who ran away.

Stevenson says the children involved are between the ages of six and 11 and that in the last two cases, they have provided similar descriptions of a man with streaked, dirty blond hair and long bangs.

Each incident occurred between 7 and 8 p.m., and police have stepped up patrols during those times.

Mounties are asking residents to record vehicle licence plates if they see anything suspicious.
