A Port Coquitlam, B.C., man has been arrested and charged in connection with two sexual assaults earlier this year.

James Alkenbrack, 20, was arrested by Coquitlam police on March 24 and has been charged with sexual assault in relation to an attack that put a woman in hospital in February.

The 20-year-old victim was approached by an unknown male on February 24, pushed to the ground and assaulted over an "extended period of time," Sgt. Peter Thiessen said in a release at the time.

Alkenbrack has also been charged with sexual assault and uttering threats in connection with a January incident that had not previously been reported to police.

Coquitlam RCMP are thanking the community for their assistance in this investigation, and have credited tips from the public for Alkenbrack's arrest.
