When Sidney Crosby scored the overtime winner for the gold medal in Vancouver, he flung his gloves and stick into the air in an exuberant celebration mimicked across the country.

But several days later it's as if those gloves and stick never came down following Canada's 3-2 win over the U.S. Hockey Canada and Crosby both say they have no idea where the now historic equipment went.

"I don't know where it got lost or how but in the heat of the moment you are not too worried about that," Crosby told TSN Wednesday. "We'll see if it turns up but I'm just happy to have that gold medal."

Hockey Canada official Johnny Misley said the equipment was collected and put in the team's bags following the game but it's not clear if Crosby's golden gear was mixed in with other gear, or taken.

The Hockey Hall of Fame wants Crosby's stick for its collection, and some of Team Canada's gear has already made its way to the hockey shrine.

It is not the first time that some of the humble superstar's hockey gear has gone missing after a big Canadian win.

In 2005, Crosby's jersey went missing after Canada beat Russia for the gold at the world junior hockey championship.

It eventually turned up outside a post office in Lachute, Quebec.
