Several forest fires have been stirred up by higher temperatures and winds over the last 24 hours, but there's been no major breakouts and no new evacuations.

The Terrace Mountain fire north of Kelowna was among the most active, with a flare-up that could be seen several kilometres away, but the activity was far away from any homes and the fire remains 40 per cent contained.

The fire is still keeping 2,100 people out of their homes between Kelowna and Vernon.

There were also flare-ups in fires near Merritt, Lytton and Pemberton, but most of the burning took place inside the fire perimeters.

The Terrace Mountain fire now covers an area of over 85,000 hectares and is only 40 per cent contained.

In Lillooet, the fire is 50 per cent contained. But firefighters are concerned that the situation could change. Residents are still on evacuation alert there.

Meanwhile, officials in the Bella Coola Valley have now lifted an evacuation order on 61 homes. Fire crews were able to get the upper hand on that blaze because of cooler temperatures
