U.S. border patrol agents in Blaine, Washington, are credited with a major marijuana arrest this week, after seizing almost 600 pounds of pot.

On Monday, agents inspected a truck parked by the side of the road near Maple Falls, Washington, close to the Canadian border. In the back of the truck, agents found 577 pounds of "B.C. Bud" packed into 12 black hockey bags.

A customs release describes B.C. Bud as a "potent marijuana grown in British Columbia."

Traffic stop results in sizeable bust

Later in the week, members of the Central Interior Traffic Services in Clearwater, B.C., seized more than 24 pounds of marijuana while conducting a routine road check.

A white van with Alberta plates was pulled over on highway 5 just before 4:30 p.m. to inspect for drinking and driving.

Officers got "strong indicators" that the subject was transporting drugs, but none were found - until a shelf unit was removed, revealing false walls inside the van. Forty-four bags of marijuana were found within the walls.

A 36-year-old Edmonton man faces charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking.
