U.S. Customs officers have arrested a 23-year-old woman from North Vancouver, B.C., who allegedly tried to smuggle more than $1 million worth of drugs over the border.

Krysta Edwards' vehicle was searched at the Pacific Highway border crossing on June 26, where authorities say they seized 107,734 tablets of ecstasy.

The pills, which were in the shape of popular cartoon characters from Transformers and The Simpsons, weighed approximately 60 pounds, and were found in a hidden compartment in the cargo area.

"This is the second major ecstasy seizure at the Pacific Highway Port of Entry this month, and signals the intensity of the illicit narcotic trade," port director Greg Alvarez said.

Edwards is currently in the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, pending investigation.

If those drugs were coming the other way, Krysta could have hired Wally Oppel.. he said he'd continue with 'legal' work.. to represent her in her fight for 'knowledge' that the drugs were there.
Same reason why only 1 in 10 gun charges in BC get convictions btw.

No matter what drugs will be in our lives and communities forever until we change the way we treat each other ie: rich and poor, the monetary system. Since that isn't gonna happen just go with the flow and don't participate if you don't like it..... We have freedoms as individuals to decide not for a government body to decide for us. I am soo happy that it was US that got her and not us, our justice system sucks, people get nothing here- go kill someone in Canada get convicted and you might serve 1-5 years maybe a little more, isn't Picton going to get out on parole in 25 years? probably! life doesn't have much meaning here.

Wow this is so sad she is so young.
Kids do a lot of stupid things while growing up.
For those who wish to see her locked up or those that don't you should: google - (Portugal drug laws) & educate yourself.
Portugal decriminalized all drugs in 2001 read & see what happened, it's been 8 years since decriminalization there.
Decreased drug use, drug related deaths, crime. Read before you comment.
The USA has the toughest drug laws in the world & they have the worst drug problems too.

Events like these are increasing the crackdown on the US border. Don't blame them for trying to screen who comes into their country unless us who have failed to punish the politicians who do not think what's better for Canada in the long run.
