University of British Columbia RCMP have recovered a body at Wreck Beach, near the UBC campus in Vancouver.

Const. Annie Linteau of the RCMP E Division said the naked body of a man was discovered in the water by someone walking in the area at around 1 p.m.

The body was removed by air ambulance helicopter at 2 p.m. and taken to hospital, where an autopsy will be performed.

Linteau said early indications were that there was no sign of foul play.

Wreck Beach is famous for its counterculture atmosphere and nudist beach, and sunbathers stayed near the scene during the recovery.
