A bank robber who cried as he held up financial institutions is on the loose after a one-day crime spree.
The man tried to rob three banks but only succeeded twice, according to Surrey RCMP.
He approached the first bank, at the intersection of 99th Avenue and 152 Street in Surrey, at about 10 a.m. on Jan. 27. The man entered the bank and handed the teller a note demanding cash, indicating he had a firearm.
He attempted to use this same tactic at the next two banks.
The man was asked by a teller to leave the second bank he hit, and walked away empty handed. He then went across the street to rob a third bank, bursting into tears in front of the teller.
He escaped with a small amount of cash, getting into an old grey Toyota heading north on 128th Street.
"Bank robberies are so common," said Andrew Riley of the Surrey RCMP. "This one's only interesting because the guy was crying."
Security footage showed the man as Caucasian, 5'2", looking dirty and wearing khaki pants, a grey jacket and a distinctive yellow and green hat.
